Culinary Unit
The Culinary Unit plays a central role in supporting wellness, daily structure, and independent living at Threshold. Members work side-by-side with staff to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious lunches each day, gaining valuable experience in meal preparation, kitchen safety, time management, and teamwork. In addition to daily operations, the unit offers weekly workshops focused on nutrition, wellness, and basic cooking skills—empowering Members to make healthier choices and build confidence in the kitchen. This unit also manages Threshold’s on-site organic garden, where Members plant, maintain, and harvest fresh produce that is incorporated into meals. This hands-on approach not only supports sustainability and health but also creates a deeper understanding of food sources and seasonal eating.
Meals are available to Members for a subsidized cost of $1.00, with free meals offered on Tuesdays and weekends.
