Thanks so much to everyone that joined our 40th Anniversary fundraiser on Saturday October 4th. We were thrilled to meet new supporters, connect with longtime supporters and celebrate Threshold members. We are so appreciative of all of the local businesses that helped to underwrite our event and contribute to our raffle. Threshold is proud to serve the Durham community and we thank everyone so very much for their support.
Matching Gift Donations
In honor of our 40th Anniversary Jonathan Beard and Grace Nordhoff are making a matching grant of $40,000 to support care coordination for Threshold members. Care Coordination includes but is not limited to: communicating with members’ clinical teams, accompanying members to medical and psychiatric appointments, providing transportation to medical appointments, home visits, assisting members manage independent living needs, managing social security and Medicaid recertifications and much more. Our Mission and Vision
The mission of Threshold is to improve the quality of life for adults with serious mental illness living in Durham County. We are committed to facilitating personal well-being and community involvement through meaningful work and relationships. We put these commitments into practice by providing an environment of opportunities and supports that address the vocational, educational, social, recreational and residential needs of those we serve.
Threshold strives to be an exemplary model for the community while promoting awareness of and appreciation for those among us living with mental illness in Durham County. Threshold affirms the dignity and worth of all members by fostering an environment of acceptance, supportive relationships and access to resources. It provides the foundation from which new experiences and attainment of one’s full potential can occur.
Threshold is a supportive, recovery-oriented community for adults living with serious mental illness in Durham, NC. Since 1985, we’ve provided Members with meaningful opportunities to advance their education, succeed at work, build healthy relationships, and improve their quality of life. Through structured, person-centered programs—including employment support, wellness activities, creative expression, and social engagement—Members gain the skills and confidence needed to live more independently.
At the heart of our mission are four guaranteed rights: a place to come, meaningful work, meaningful relationships, and a place to return.
